Stairs: carpet or paint?

That’s a good question, initially we were full on the painted option.. alternatively timber but we had a feeling our existing hardwood is not going to be the nicest to expose.

We started with peeling off the paint with a toxic free paint remover we found online.. whenever we can we try to go for toxic free options ( often depends on finances we have ..). it was taking ages to remove as there were layers underneath of paint. However after seeing it we decided to carpet it and it’s really great . It was cheap.. approx £7psqm : Highland - Trent, it’s very hard wearing, softens up our elephants-like walking and it looks good too!
