Alter native
We already spend 90% of our time indoors so it is very
important to learn how can we deal with neglected subjects
of air pollution and toxicity of some of the daily spaces.
‘Alter native expo’ is a gallery on a bridge which gathers and
exhibits work by various artists who are focusing on creating
sustainable, non toxic, free from harmful plastics daily objects
and furniture.
The layout of the gallery is created by a set of pillars
supporting the glazed roof and the mezzanine. The grid for the pillars comes from Braille alphabet and means “re
connect with nature” (re connect with nature). The
choice of the site also means the transition of our life, just
as we do it by crossing the bridge. ‘Alter native expo’ will
provide the knowledge, supply with furniture and create
new identity for Edinburgh waterfront (pavilions and cycling
path Portobello - Crammond) that will alter not only our
interiors but also our lifestyle and will help to connect us
in a more sustainable way with nature.
